Stanza: A BJP leader’s son and two of his employees at a resort here were arrested on Friday for allegedly killing its receptionist, who had been missing for the past few days, police said.
Officials said that a revenue police sub-inspector was suspended for allegedly misbehaving with the victim’s parents at the time of filing a complaint.
Three accused – Pulkit Arya, who owns a resort in Yamkeswar block, resort manager Saurabh Bhaskar and assistant manager Ankit Gupta – have been sent to 14-day judicial custody by the court, police said.
Pulkit Arya is the son of Haridwar BJP leader Vinod Arya. Vinod Arya was earlier the Chairman of Uttarakhand Mati Kala Board with the rank of Minister of State.
Manveer Chauhan, media in-charge of the party’s state unit, said that Vinod Arya currently does not hold any position in the Uttarakhand BJP.
The woman’s parents filed a missing complaint at a mall police station after she was not found in her room on Monday morning, police said.
Pulkit Arya, Bhaskar and Gupta were arrested after they confessed to killing the woman. They dumped her body in the Cheela Canal, Pauri Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shekhar Chandra Sawal told PTI.
He said that initially he tried to mislead the police, but when he was questioned severely, he confessed to his crime.
A team has been sent to fish out the body of the woman from the canal, the ASP said, adding that the case was solved within 24 hours after the cargo was transferred from the police.
The police said that the Kotdwar court has sent the three accused to 14-day judicial custody.
Vivek Kumar, sub-inspector of revenue police at Ganga Bhogpur Talla, was suspended for not filing a report immediately, making the victim’s parents wait for two hours and abusing them, officials said.
