Peshawar region and Counter-Terrorism Department security forces on Saturday killed four terrorists – allegedly belonging to a banned outfit – in a mountainous area near Sangu Sarband, Khyber district.

According to TV channel 24NewsHD, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have killed four terrorists in a search and clearance operation in the area.

According to a CTD press release, the terrorists were killed in retaliatory fire by a team conducting a joint operation based on intelligence after receiving a tip-off that terrorists were roaming in the area.

The teams attacked the terrorists with the intention of arresting them.

The terrorists started indiscriminate firing on the border of Sangu Sarband, Khyber district as they tried to flee on sighting the forces.

The firing between the terrorists and the operative teams continued for some time. When the firing stopped, four terrorists were killed during a search and clearance operation in the area. The slain terrorists were wanted by the CTD in several cases.

Four Kalashnikovs and three hand grenades were found in the possession of the dead terrorists. Three to four terrorists are believed to have escaped in the dark of night.
