PTI leader Imran Khan is likely to be formally charged with contempt of court by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) today (Thursday) for his controversial remarks about Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhary during a rally in Islamabad. August 20

After initiating contempt of court proceedings against Khan for threatening a second sessions judge during a rally, a large bench of the IHC had on August 23 issued a show-cause notice to him.

After Shahbaz Gill claimed to have been tortured while in detention, the PTI chairman staged a demonstration in the national capital on 20 August to show his support for him. He threatened to take action against the Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad for allegedly torturing Gill. , saying that he would “not spare” them.

Imran Khan then pointed his weapons at the Additional Sessions Judge, who had placed Gill in physical custody at the request of the police, and warned him to expect consequences. Tight security measures have been put in place to prepare for the former prime minister’s appearance for arraignment.

As per police security orders, 710 police officers and officers have been deployed, and two SPs. There is now a large contingent of FC and Rangers players inside the court.

When will the court proceedings begin?
In a circular issued on Wednesday, the IHC said the hearing of the case will begin at 2:30 pm and a larger bench of the IHC will then frame charges against Imran Khan.

The circular said that Imran Khan’s legal team will have 15 members, along with 15 attorneys and advocate generals from the Attorney General’s Office.

The court will charge Imran Khan:

Imran Khan’s response during the most recent hearing on September 8 was deemed “unsatisfactory”, and the IHC decided to charge the former prime minister because he had not offered a comprehensive apology.
