There is news of kidnapping of 2 minor girls from a Hindu family in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. The two victims are cousins. The allegation of kidnapping was brought against 4 persons from another community. Among the accused are 3 young men and a girl. The police registered a case and started an investigation. So far, neither the girls have been found, nor has any accused been arrested. Given the tension in the village, police forces have been deployed as a precaution. The incident is on Sunday (March 11, 2023).
The incident is in Jiginiya village in Ranipur police station area of Bahraich. The victim living here belongs to the OBC community. He earns his living by working as a carpenter. In the report given to the police, the victim said that his 16-year-old daughter and his nephew’s 16-year-old daughter went to the village canal to defecate on March 11. During this, 25-year-old Imtiaz and Musibat Ali’s 20-year-old son Chotkau, a resident of the same village, were ambushed. The two accused grabbed the two minor girls from the four-wheeler.
According to the report, the victim went to a wedding procession that day. When he returned to his house in the morning, another 7-year-old girl from his house told him the whole thing. As soon as it was known, the victim tried to find the daughter and the grandson’s daughter on her behalf. Meanwhile, he learned that 40-year-old Moin and Musibat Ali’s 19-year-old daughter had also collaborated in the kidnapping. The victim, who got lost after searching for the minor girls himself, finally filed a report with the police.
Ranipur police station registered the case under section 364 of IPC. Moin, Imtiaz, Chotkau and Chotkau’s sister were named as accused in the case. A copy of the FIR is available with OpIndia. Talking to us, the victim’s father said that the Muslim population in his village is around 70%. He said the police are assuring them to recover the girls and arrest the accused soon. According to the police force, they were deployed in the village as well.
