Kwasi Kwarteng’s ‘mini budget’ actually became a massive budget with tax cuts, almost entirely for the rich, apparently.
The new chancellor spent much of her time turning back the clock on the past 12 years of government, telling MPs it was the start of a ‘new era’.
And even the Conservatives couldn’t keep a straight face.

And here’s what people have made of it.
Chancellor “Growth is not as high as it should be, making it harder to pay for public services, so taxes need to be raised…the highest tax levels since the late 1940s. We need a new A new approach is needed for the era”.
Wow it’s almost like it’s a different party from the previous government

“We are at the beginning of a new era,” he says @KwasiKwarteng.
The Chancellor will be furious when he learns that the Conservatives have been in power for a dozen years since 2010.

Not a single revenue-raising measure in that budget statement, not one: every announcement is paid for by a spending commitment and billions of additional public borrowing throughout the year – in this sense we are definitely in a new era. ..
