MOSCOW (Urdupoint News / Sputnik – 14th March, 2023) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdolakhian, speaking by phone on Monday, expressed satisfaction with the record level of bilateral trade, despite Western sanctions against Moscow and Tehran. said the statement of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Many issues from the bilateral agenda were discussed. The parties confirmed the strengthening of positive dynamics in the development of the Russian-Iranian multifaceted cooperation. They expressed satisfaction with the achieved record level of trade turnover, despite the illegitimate unilateral sanctions against our countries…”, the Ministry said.
The ministers also exchanged opinions on important regional and international issues.
“Mutual interest in continuing close coordination, including within the upcoming face-to-face contacts between the two ministers, has been confirmed,” the statement said.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the parties also discussed the upcoming quadrilateral meeting on Syria and Turkey, the restoration of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Tehran’s ties with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the situation in Ukraine.
