ISLAMABAD: (Webdesk) Federal Treasury Secretary Miftah Ismail says loans from Eurobond borrowers and commercial banks will not be forgiven.
Miftah Ismail wrote in a post on social networking site Twitter that Pakistan is in trouble due to the climate disasters, the debt is being forgiven on a reciprocal basis from the creditors of the Paris Club.
The finance minister had to write that the loan from the borrowers of Eurobonds and commercial banks will not be forgiven. There is no need to cancel the loan from commercial banks.
He went on to write that by December, $1 billion in bonds must be paid, which will be repaid on time.
In his tweet, Miftah Ismail wrote that Pakistan owes $8 billion in Eurobonds until 2051, much of the debt comes from friendly countries.
