Ratnagiri: The driver has died after a tanker fell into the Kajli river at Anjanari on the Mumbai-Goa highway. The incident took place on Thursday around 2.45 pm. The LPG tanker fell into the river and the driver got trapped and died due to drowning. The tanker going towards Goa broke the bank and fell into the river. Lanja Police, Highway Traffic Police rushed to the spot and LPG gas was leaking from the back of the tanker in this accident. Traffic on the Mumbai-Goa highway has been diverted through Davdhe for some time for safety reasons. As a precautionary measure, the Mumbai-Goa highway will be closed overnight. Meanwhile, an LPG gas tanker overturned in the river from Anjanari bridge at Lanja on the Mumbai-Goa highway. The driver died on the spot. Here the body of the driver has been taken out with the help of traffic police, Lanja police, ambulance and highway crane. The tanker is leaking gas and currently the officials of LP Gas Company have reached the spot.

After getting information about this incident, Lanja police inspector Dadasaheb Ghutu along with his colleagues entered the spot. Similarly, Deputy Inspector of Highway Traffic Department Mr. Ghosale, Police Constable Pavaskar, Police Constable Mr. Pawar, Mr. Bharankar, Mr. Sansare along with Security Officer of Hahn Infra Company and Shyam Kumar Giri, Crane entered the spot. Lanja Traffic Police Mujawar, Lanja Youth Ranjit Sardal and Highway Traffic Police tried to rescue the driver trapped under the tanker. Then at 4.30 pm with the help of a train, the tanker was pulled aside and the body of the driver was taken out.

After falling into the river, the gas tanker started leaking from behind. Therefore, the concerned security officers had entered the place. Traffic on the Mumbai-Goa highway has been closed for safety reasons. This traffic was diverted via Deodhe Kajarghati via Ratnagiri and Dabhole Sakharpa.

Therefore, considering the seriousness of the whole matter, the traffic on the Mumbai Goa highway has been completely closed. A team of experts will reach the spot from Goa and Uran. They will safely evacuate the gas from the stricken tanker and only then traffic will resume. Although there is no need to worry, this decision has been taken by estimating the entire situation.
