Currently sextortion cases are seen to be the highest among cyber crimes. A 19-year-old youth who was extorting ransom from many people using this criminal method was recently arrested from Rajasthan by the Mumbai Crime Branch team. His name is Arbaaz Khan and he blackmailed a doctor in Ghatkopar to extort ransom. Khan’s mobile calls and bank account details are being traced to those who were duped by him.
A doctor from Ghatkopar received a video call in November 2021. As soon as the doctor picked up the call, he saw a woman’s face in front of him. The woman got undressed after engaging in talking first. Seeing this, the doctor ended the call. After some time he got a call from an unknown mobile number and started talking about the video call he had with the woman. The caller demanded money from the doctor threatening action in this obscene video case. The doctor sent some money so that the proceedings would not be scandalous and scandalous. But as the demand for money did not stop, the doctor finally lodged a complaint at the Pantnagar police station.
The police and a team of Crime Branch Unit 7 were on the lookout for the extortionist since then. While tracking under the guidance of Police Inspector Mahesh Tawde, it was learned that the extortionist was in Rajasthan. Based on the technical evidence, a team of inspector Neeraj Ubale, sub-inspector Madhav Dhotre, Deepak Pawar, Rajendra Shinde reached Rajasthan. Arbaaz Khan was detained from Bharatpur here. Investigation has revealed that Arbaaz took money from different accounts through Google Pay and other online channels. Arbaaz used to make video calls by using another mobile or some app and morphing it to create obscene videos. Police have said that his arrest will help in uncovering many crimes in Mumbai.
