Islamabad: (web desk) Section 124A of sedition in Pakistan’s penal code has been challenged by the Islamabad Supreme Court. In the petition, the leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Shireen Mazari, has requested that Section 124A of sedition be declared illegal.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shireen Mazari has filed a petition against Section 124A of Sedition in Pakistan’s Criminal Code, aligning IG police and chief secretary of four provinces, including Islamabad.
The petition took the position that Section 124A of Incitement is used to suppress freedom of expression, Section 124A of Incitement violates fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan, sedition cases to suppress criticism and expression.
The petition requested that Section 124A of sedition be declared illegal, the petition also requested Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shireen Mazari to stop the registration of sedition cases and issue a ban on sedition cases.
Meanwhile, PTI leader Shireen Mazari said on the occasion of the Islamabad Supreme Court hearing that we have not filed a case of treason against a journalist who was arrested. Khan Sahib released them immediately. There was a majority.
Shireen Mazari added that our law on enforced disappearance was passed by the Assembly but stuck in the Senate, we did not have the majority to make changes, the way people stand with Khan Sahib, will two thirds vote in the elections?
