Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said that Yuvraj, a resident of Navi Abadi Faijpura, has been arrested from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh during an operation led by the intelligence agency. He further said that Yuvraj is a history sheeter and is involved in several heinous crimes including premeditated murder, dacoity and robbery.
He said that along with Yuvraj, the police have also arrested his two accomplices Pawan Kumar alias Shiva Machi and Sahil alias Machi, both residents of Chamarang Road Amritsar, who have a criminal background and have been accused by the Amritsar Police of murder, snatching, robbery, robbery. were required in many other cases of extortion etc. Both the accused have been arrested in the dacoity case registered at Majitha Road police station in Amritsar, while their role in the IED case registered in Ranjit Avenue police station in Amritsar is also being investigated.
This action was taken by the Punjab Police against Deepak (22) of Patti village of Tarn Taran, who was arrested on August 16, 2022 in the area SI of C-Block Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar. The action comes four weeks after the arrest of seven people, including Yuvraj’s accomplice, who planted an IED under his SUV Bolero (PB02-CK-0800) outside Dilbagh Singh’s residence. Local police recovered a mobile phone-triggering IED weighing 2.79 kg and about 2.17 kg of high explosive from the spot.
The six other persons arrested on charges of providing logistical, technical and financial support were identified as dismissed constables Harpal Singh and Fatehdeep Singh, both residents of village Sabra, Tarn Taran; Rajinder Kumar alias Bau resident of Harike, Taran Taran; Khushalbir Singh alias Chittu, Varinder Singh alias Abu and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi all three residents of Bhikkhiwind.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that with the arrest of Yuvraj, while the police have succeeded in arresting all the accused involved in the case, the Canada-based gangster Lakhbir Singh alias Landa, who is plotting to disrupt the peace and harmony of the border state, has been arrested. DGP reiterated, “With the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann adopting zero-tolerance towards anti-social elements, the Punjab Police is committed to wipe out gangsters and drugs from the state.”
Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Arun Pal Singh said that the police have obtained a seven-day remand of Yuvraj and further interrogation is going on.
