During his eight-over effort against Australia in Nagpur, Rohit Sharma overtook Martin Guptill to top the list of batsmen with the most sixes in T20Is.
Rohit Sharma, the highest run-scorer in T20Is, has overtaken Martin Guptill’s total of sixes to become the top T20I six hitter. Chasing a target of 91 in eight overs, the Indian captain now has 174 sixes in the format after hitting two sixes in the opening over from Josh Hazlewood.
He is followed by Guptill (172 sixes) and Chris Gayle (124 sixes). Virat Kohli is the only other Indian batsman with more than 100 T20I sixes, now having 104 in the format.
Susie Bates is the only other international hitter to score more than 3500 runs in the format. Diandra Dottin and Sophie Devine are the only women cricketers with more than 100 T20 sixes.
In a short encounter against Australia in Nagpur, Rohit’s top-order innings helped India get off to a flying start. Batting first, Australia scored 90/5 in the eight-over match, but Rohit and KL Rahul put on an opening partnership of 39 runs in 2.5 overs to give India a flying start.
