External Affairs Minister S. S. arrived in New York. Jaishankar shared his interesting anecdotes with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During a discussion on the book ‘Modi @ 20: Dreams Meet Delivery’, he said, you ask whether PM Modi can bring a change, but I say PM Modi himself is the result of a change. Someone like him has become the Prime Minister of India, it shows how much the country has changed.
During this, the External Affairs Minister shared a memorable anecdote with PM Modi. He said, it happened when Taliban attacked Afghanistan and campaign was going on to expel Indian students from there. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said, PM Modi called me in the middle of the night and asked directly, are you awake? I answered yes. After this the PM asked, are you watching TV, what is happening there? So in response to this, I said that help is arriving in a short time.

When you say out loud – tell me directly
Recalling this conversation, the External Affairs Minister further said that the PM said, call me when help arrives. I said sir, it will take another two to three hours. When it is done I will inform you here. After this PM Modi said loudly, no…, call me directly. This is a unique quality in a Prime Minister, the External Affairs Minister said.
Foreign Minister hosted the tenth meeting of IBSA
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hosted the tenth meeting of the Trilateral Ministerial Commission of IBSA during this period. He reviewed the process of IBSA and appreciated its work. The meeting was also attended by Brazilian Foreign Minister Carlos Franca and South African Health Minister Joe Fahla.
According to a joint statement issued by IBSA, the ministers condemned the terrorist attacks happening around the world. He condemned all forms and acts of terrorism, wherever and by whoever. The Ministers reaffirmed solidarity in the fight against terrorism with the initiative to eliminate terrorist safe havens.
