Islamabad: Sheikh Rashid Ahmed challenged the formation of the federal cabinet in the Islamabad Supreme Court.

Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed challenged the formation of the federal cabinet in Islamabad’s Supreme Court.

In the petition filed with the court, Sheikh Rasheed took a position that only 11 percent of the assembly’s total membership can become ministers. Under Article 92/1, the current number of federal cabinets is illegal.

Sheikh Rasheed requested that 68 appointments to the positions of ministers and assistants be canceled and the ministers and assistants stop working until the final decision on the application. In the petition, the Federation, the Prime Minister through the Secretary and the Ministry of Justice were made parties. All persons included in the cabinet are also parties to the petition.
