Budgam: Police in central Kashmir have arrested a man on suspicion of killing a young woman and then cutting her body into several pieces before dumping it at various locations across Budgam district.

According to initial information, the 30-year-old woman, who graduated in education, was missing since March 7.

Police detained Shabir Ahmad, a carpenter, on March 8, but he confessed to the crime on Saturday, according to police.

Ahmad, 45, was arrested by police after her family reported her missing.

Ahmad is married and lives in Ompora area of ​​Budgam district.

And while the police are yet to reveal the motive for the murder, the woman’s relatives claim that the man had previously approached the family for marriage, but she turned him down.

“The woman was missing from her home for four days. The accused confessed to killing the woman and dismembering her body before dumping it at various locations, including Ompora Railway Bridge and Sebden, where the victim’s head and other body parts were discovered on Saturday night. “The accused has been arrested, all her body parts have been recovered, including her head from his home, and further investigation is underway,” the police told the news agency.

Ahmad, according to the woman’s family, used to visit her home for tiling work.

“I think the man killed her because of his passion,” said the woman’s cousin. He said that after the victim rejected his marriage proposal, Ahmad said he lost his respect.
