Haveri (Karnataka): A 75-year-old woman on Friday filed a mercy plea before the President through the district administration on the grounds of extreme physical and psychological suffering.
According to district officials, Putva Hanumantappa Kotura, a resident of Ranganathnagar near Ranebenur town, owned 30 acres of land. He also owned seven residential houses and flats. Sadly, she filed for euthanasia despite having 11 children.
In her petition, the elderly woman said that although she has given birth to seven sons and four daughters, no one is ready to take care of her at this age. Putwa claimed that it is becoming very difficult for him to live with the diseases.
She was seen crying alone on the steps of the Haveri District Commissioner’s office.
Later, he filed a mercy killing petition before District Commissioner Sanjay Shetannawara.
