Gujarat police have arrested two people for disrupting the India-Australia Test match in Ahmedabad. The two accused are said to be supporters of Khalistan. The two were arrested from Rewa and Satna districts of Madhya Pradesh. The two are accused of using fake Twitter handles from Pakistan along with SIM boxes (a technology that holds SIM cards with multiple numbers linked to a gateway) to threaten to fix the match. The police revealed this on Sunday (March 12, 2023).
According to media reports, this threat was given for the fourth Test match to be held between India and Australia. The opening ceremony of this competition, which will be held on March 9, 2023, was attended by the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, who was visiting India together with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Threatening messages were posted before this Test match. This threat was given by Khalistan terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. Pannu heads a Khalistan organization called SFJ (Sikhs for Justice).
The Gujarat police were on high alert following this threat during the Test match. Cyber Cell and Crime Branch teams were deployed to nab the accused. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, the location of those who threatened were also traced from UP, Bihar and Punjab. While investigating this, the police team reached Satna and Rewa in Madhya Pradesh. Here the police found 2 such persons, who made fake handles of Pakistan with simbox technology and made the threat of disrupting the match viral.
