The BJP is following the same path as the Congress when it comes to “conducting raids by central agencies” and will face the same fate as the Congress, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday.
Akhilesh told the media in Ahmedabad, “I have met industrialists from Gujarat many times in the past. They say that if they do not face a CBI raid, they feel bad. Residents of Gujarat know the meaning of this: Income Tax, ED (Enforcement Directorate) and CBI. I hDBI too have said in the past that ED is a “trial in democracy”. One has to pass this exam. The BJP is following the same route as the Congress.”
“The tradition started by the Congress is also being followed by the BJP. BJP is not doing anything new by doing raids by ED, CBI and IT. Those who complete the raids… They will face the same fate as the Congress: That there will be no one to take the name of the BJP…”
“The CBI, ED and the income tax department are working on the directions of the government. If the Congress falls to the ground today, tomorrow, the BJP will also reach there,” he added. The Leader of the Opposition in the UP Assembly is on a two-day visit to Gujarat. “Also, I have come to Gujarat many times in the past. This country has always sent a message. Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, who was born here, promised to follow non-violence,” Akhilesh said.
“The slogan of truth and non-violence was given by Mahatma Gandhi… India took that path and got independence. Along with Independence, people in politics followed these principles in their lives as well. This was the path of non-violence and truth. But after BJP came to power and especially in Uttar Pradesh, they forgot these roads. They do not follow the path of truth. The path of non-violence has been bulldozed,” added Akhilesh.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, who arrived in Ahmedabad on Saturday, will attend the wedding of the nephew of former Gujarat CM Shankersinh Vaghela.
