Harassment Case: Written Response Requested from Javed Iqbal

At the meeting of the missing committee, Federal Justice Minister Nazir Tarar asked for a written response from the committee’s chairman, retired Judge Javed Iqbal, on the issue of harassment.

A meeting of the Missing Persons Policy Committee was held chaired by Prime Minister Nazir Tarar, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Missing Persons Committee Chair Javed Iqbal attended the meeting.

Azam Nazir Tarar told Javed Iqbal that during the question-and-answer session with Amina Masood Janjua, incidents of harassment were discovered in the committee.

Javed Iqbal said there can be no harassment in the committee meeting, there are 12 people in the meeting, how can there be harassment? A report prepared with more than 400 pages, the number of missing persons is exaggerated.

He said that the issue of missing persons has been made a political issue, the difference between terrorists and actually missing persons is important.

Prime Minister Nazir Tarar said civil society has expressed mistrust of the commission’s implementation, you should reply in writing in this regard.

Shazia Murri said there should be zero tolerance for harassment of women, it is important to look at this issue through the lens of humanity, missing persons are a problem, poverty is an important reason.

Federal Minister Agha Hasan Jan rejected the figures of Justice Javed Iqbal and said Javed Iqbal made a wrong statement in the committee meeting.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said we went to Balochistan and there is a problem with missing persons.

Justice retired Fazlur Rehman said the families of missing persons should be supported financially.
